Customer Service League is an independent website that collects and publishes customer service ratings for automotive manufacturers in the UK. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, trade body, or industry organisation.

What data we collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate this service:
When you submit a rating:
- The manufacturer you rated
- Your rating (1-5 stars)
- The category of your experience
- Any comments you choose to provide (optional)
- A timestamp of when you submitted
- Your IP address (to prevent duplicate voting)
When you subscribe to our newsletter:
- Your email address
- A record of your consent and when you gave it
Automatically collected:
- Basic analytics data (pages viewed, time on site) via privacy-respecting analytics
- We do not use Google Analytics or other invasive tracking tools
How we use your data
Ratings data is used to calculate and publish manufacturer rankings. Individual ratings are anonymised before being included in our calculations. We never publish identifying information alongside ratings.
Email addresses are used solely to send our newsletter. We send approximately one email per month with ranking updates and relevant content. We do not share your email with anyone else.
IP addresses are used only to prevent duplicate voting from the same person. We do not use IP addresses for tracking or advertising purposes. IP data is deleted after 30 days.
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following bases:
- Consent: Newsletter subscriptions are based on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests: We process rating data to provide our ranking service, which we believe is in the public interest and does not override your rights.
How we protect your data
- All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS)
- We use reputable, GDPR-compliant hosting providers based in the UK/EU
- Access to personal data is restricted to essential personnel only
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing
Data retention
- Rating data: Aggregated rating data is retained indefinitely. IP addresses are deleted after 30 days.
- Newsletter subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe. Upon unsubscription, your email is deleted within 30 days.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate personal data
- Erase your personal data (right to be forgotten)
- Restrict processing of your personal data
